Inspired by the story of the canarybird. The miners used to take canary birds with them down in the mines. If the canarybird was singing, everything was fine, but if the bird fell down to the bottom of the cage, the miner had to flee. The vanitas symbols of lifes fragility hopefully makes the viewer compose a personal story which create inner pictures. My best friend Rikke and my youngest son Jens are models for my work. None of them are short people with huge feet, but as I am the artist I am in charge of how I want them to look
